An early morning fire broke out at a restaurant on Abhay Guha Road in Belur, triggering panic among local residents. Two fire engines rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control after nearly two hours of sustained effort. The flames reportedly spread within the premises and also affected two overhead wires along the road, intensifying concerns in the locality.
Residents stepped out of their homes in fear as several gas cylinders were stored inside the restaurant, raising the possibility of an explosion. According to the fire brigade’s preliminary investigation, the blaze was caused by an electrical short circuit. No casualties were reported, and further assessment of the damage is underway.
